APARTAMENTO meets Tokyo - a tribute to simple and real things in life -
El Tokio will be hosting a talk by Marco Velardi, editor in chief, and Omar Sosa, art director, of the very unique life style magazine APARTAMENTO.
APARTAMENTO is based in Barcelona and Milan, and presents houses, rooms and life styles of creative people living in the world, with approaches very different from general interior magazines. The beautiful pictures even reflect atypical images such as the air of a lazy bedroom, a disordered work room, a kitchen with laundry hanging from the cable, or planters with the sand overflowed, photographed or supervised by their third member Nacho Alegre, photographer.
This time Marco Velardi and Omar Sosa selected many visuals for people of Tokyo, one of their most favorite cities.

Apartamento's founder and Art Director After obtaining his degree in graphic design in the Barcelona design school EINA, Omar began working in the graphic design industry and later formed a studio with Albert Folch where he developed graphic design projects and worked as an art director for national and international clients. He also developed editorial projects working with various magazines such as Metal, Kilimanjaro and Fanzine 137. In 2008 together with his business partner Nacho Alegre, Omar founded the magazine Apartamento. Two years later he went on to win the prestigious Yellow Pencil Award and Apartamento was awarded the best complete magazine of 2010 by the Designers and Art Directors Association (UK). After 2010 Omar left Folch Studio to live between Barcelona and Milan working for his own clients and took charge of the art direction of the Corriere della Sera's Design Magazine, Casamica.
Graduated with a BA (Hons) in Business Studies at University of Hertfordshire in 2005 and has been living in Milan since. Over the years has worked with Zurich based art publisher Nieves Books and freelanced for several magazines such as New York Times T Magazine, AD Germany, 032c. Since October 2008 he is a partner in the Milan based creative agency, SM ASSOCIATI, for which he covers the role of Creative Director in several projects, including the redesign in 2010 of Casamica, Corriere della Sera's design magazine, or La Cucina Italiana, Italy's long-standing (since 1929) cult food magazine, relaunched in 2011. He is currently Editor-in-Chief of Apartamento magazine, a biannual everyday life interiors magazine, and since early 2011 Creative Director of Italian furniture company De Padova.
